People join companies because of the leadership, type of work, benefits, and reputation. How productive they are, and
how long they stay, are affected by their immediate managers. Managers support, teach, and motivate employees. Who
is doing the same for them? Managers must help their teams be most productive. Who is helping them? This program
helps managers bring out the best in their teams, while performing their jobs as champions.

This seminar provides management fundamentals & essentials, with the emphasis on interpersonal dynamics which lead
to increased productivity and employee loyalty. It is an interactive training session, which helps with technique
absorption and retention. Minimal lecture, maximum participation--a training experience unlike most.
DAY ONE:
Session 1:     Prepare Like a Champion
Champion managers prepare themselves and their teams differently than also-rans. This session covers the
fundamentals of being an effective manager.
  • Personal "gut check"--what are you made of?
  • Characteristics & responsibilities of championship managers
  • Fundamentals & essentials of strategic planning
  • Create a 12-month strategic plan for your team
  • Get the right people on the bus, in the right seats (10 Tips to make the hiring process effective)

Session 2:     Perform Like a Champion
Managers need to bring out the best in their people but many make a common management mistake. Find out what it
is, how to stop doing it, and how to understand your team and help them bring their A games to work every day.
  • Personality behaviors & how to work with them
  • Motivation & reward strategies that work
  • Working with emotional intelligence (It's more than "fluff")
  • Bringing out the best in all generations of workers on your team

DAY TWO:
Session 3:     Coach Like a Champion
Way back in the old days, managers weren't much different from dictators. They barked orders and people complied.
Today's workers bring their brains to work and want to use them, so barking doesn't work any more. Mangers with
exceptional interpersonal skills build professional relationships and run effective departments. This session puts
communication strategies to work the way coaches work with teams.
  • 3 Communication strategies and when each works best
  • Delegating to get the job done right
  • Managing mistakes when something goes wrong
  • Giving feedback to get results
  • Resolving conflicts whether you're involved or not

Session 4:     Lead Like a Champion
Leaders adapt to changes, and if they're managing others, they help them adapt too.
  • Reduce the negative impact of change on your team
  • Creative thinking exercises to use with your team
  • Leadership characteristics managers need to demonstrate daily
Top performers who became managers, without much training but with good instincts, will benefit most from this program. New managers
will benefit by learning more about their role, although they may not be responsible for everything covered yet (e.g. strategic planning).
Managers who must balance their own workload with the responsibility of managing people will gain from the emphasis on interpersonal skills
and productivity.
