About Kelly
In this three-hour workshop, you will:
  • Identify your three-year vision for your business.
  • Identify precisely where your business is now on the growth scale.
  • Determine what transition steps must be taken to move your business from today to
    your vision.
  • Prioritize the transition steps and estimate how long each will take.
  • Develop a transition plan to grow your business to the desired stage.

When you walk out the door, you will have the following:
  • The 48-page Listening to Your Business manual
  • A transition plan developed through guided, thoughtful analysis. You will be able to
share it with your partners and teammates.
  • Measurement and monitoring tools
  • A CD containing tools provided
  • A private follow-up session with Kelly Tyler, to guide you through questions you have
about using the material when you return to your workplace.
The workshop, which was developed by FastTrac and the Kauffman Foundation, will help
you evaluate and measure your business strategies. Specifically designed for entrepreneurs,
this workshop will help you answer the question “What do I really want from my business, and
how do I get it?”

This course is for those who want to transition from entrepreneur to business owner or for those
who want to turn their side-business into their main business. The only way to make that
transition is to plan for the business.  Vigilance does not happen by accident. It is planned.

If your priorities and interests extend beyond idea generation to business generation, this
workshop can help you plan for the transition. If your business is beyond the start-up phase
and ready for growth, this workshop can help you understand where you are and determine
where you want to go and how.

What is most required of business owners-managers today? Not persistence. Not dedication.
Not energy, ego, or enthusiasm. The answer is vigilance.

Business owners-managers must be vigilant to take advantage opportunities created by new
business models, new technology, and new marketplaces. Business leaders today must be
proactive, not reactive. The old way of running a business by reacting to customer changes,
cost increases, and competitive adjustments does not build or sustain businesses today.

Today's business owners-managers must be proactive and predict customer need changes.
They must have finely tuned operations so cost fluctuations are not impactful. They must be
innovative so the competition does not surprise them or their customers. Today's business
leaders must be vigilant.
